Scholarship Benefits

The Dalhousie University Scholarships are of the following types:

Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship

  • The value of the master’s level award is $10,000 per year for two years (subject to annual renewal).
  • Doctoral level awards are valued at $15,000 per year for 4 years (subject to annual renewal).

Killam Pre-Doctoral Scholarship

  • Masters (Tier 1): $6,666.66 per semester + ITF (international students) + relocation allowance (if applicable)
  • Ph.D. (Tier 2): $10,000 per semester + relocation allowance (if applicable) + President’s Award for two years. Note that Dalhousie PhD programs no longer apply international tuition fees.

Vitamin Scholarship

  • The award is valued at $19,000 (Masters) and $21,000 (PhD) for a 12-month academic year (one to two awards per year)

Abdul Majeed Badr Scholarship for Graduates

  • The scholarship is worth $40,000 for an academic year of 12 months of full-time study. The scholarship is renewable, subject to an annual progress review.
  • The award can be taken for a maximum of 24 months of full-time study.
  • Fees are not waived and must be paid out of the award.
  • One new award is presented each year.
